Three ways to QUICKLY spot a lie

Let's face it, we've all told a small lie at some point, and we've also wondered if someone else is lying to us. Spotting a lie isn't always easy, but certain telltale signs can help us quickly detect when something is off. Here are three quick and practical methods to catch someone lying:
1. Shifty Eyes and Gaze
Ever noticed someone avoiding eye contact while talking? Or perhaps staring at you a bit too intensely? Both are classic signs of deception. Liars often feel uncomfortable making natural eye contact and may either avoid it entirely or overcompensate by staring unnaturally. Pay attention: a constantly shifting gaze or overly intense eye contact could mean something's up.
2. Inconsistencies in Details
Lies often unravel when it comes to details. People who lie tend to forget or alter small details of their stories. Want a tip? Ask precise questions or request they repeat their story after some time. Truthful people won't struggle to provide consistent details, whereas liars might contradict themselves or show hesitation.
3. Gestures and Body Language
The body rarely lies. A liar typically exhibits nervousness or tension through unconscious gestures, like scratching the face, covering their mouth, or defensively crossing arms and legs. Watch closely: repetitive and nervous movements, such as fiddling with hair or excessively moving hands, are strong indicators something isn't right.
Detecting lies becomes easier once you know exactly what to look for.
